Plain content isn´t enough, users want news

The internet is bustling with content and consumers are no longer satisfied with the sheer presence of content. What users are looking for is newsworthy and unique content and this presents a new challenge to marketers. Search Engine Watch has examined several ways to facilitate the creation of content that users will notice and feel engaged with.

As with every marketing move, getting to know your audience is key. Content should be designed with a mental picture of your target audience in mind andshould provoke a response from your audience, and a positive one at that.

Once you have decided on the topic, it is time to think about the way it should be presented. Offering newsworthiness and being the first to do it is never simple, but with a bit of planning it can be achieved. You could make a content planning calendar in which you can add any forthcoming event you feel worth mentioning. This way you will be prepared to talk about the issue.

It is important to be factual and provide plenty of useful information. However, this should not come at the expense of originality and uniqueness. Add a personal perspective, a comment, an unusual point of view that users are not likely to see on other sites.

Be prepared for the fact that you may not break traffic records. It is impossible to create content that everyone finds equally appealing. What matters is that over time you become a trustworthy source of news and quality content, which will lead to more traffic and shares.
