Marketing spend reaches highest level in 13 years

UK companies have increased their marketing spend to its highest level in 13 years, according to the recent IPA Bellwether Report. As the company began carrying out the survey in 2000, this means that marketing budgets are now at an all time high – and for good reason.

The UK economy is steadily improving, and consumers are now more willing to part with their hard-earned cash. Companies are recognising that with more money around, being recognised has never had more significance. And Christmas is moving ever closer, meaning businesses in sectors like consumer goods have a real opportunity to promote, and profit from, their products.

A net 12.3 percent of UK companies in the survey said that they intend to increase their marketing spend during quarter three of this year. That’s an increase of five percent on quarter two, and it marks a concentrated effort to be at the forefront of the UK’s economic recovery.
